Sorry I have not been active lately. I been dealing with serius health issues. My Left arm was paralysed by a vaccine injection gone wrong. They injected my tinnitus and Shingles shot in wrong spot in my arm and ripped my rotator cup in half. Then I contracted MERSA as well as my blood had gone toxic. So been in and out of the hospital. Enough said....
I am looking for a MIDI box that works with a NeXT Black HW. So I can use my vintage synths like my Korg, Roland, ARP, Moog, Sequential, E-MU and Kurwiel
Any help in finding a midi device and software to support it! Would be greatly apriciated.
Thank you in advance,
SpaceRat
Wow, so sorry to hear you had a rough run there. Hoping you have a full and speedy recovery!

Do you try the Apple MIDI Interface for Apple // Gs but it share serial port with Next
number A9M0103 i think there no need driver it's some connections
Sorry for your disease,
Best regards
Since I'm playing around with MIDI on an Atari ST at the moment, the topic of MIDI on NeXTs is, of course, interesting...
It seems that Apple MIDI interfaces worked on the 030 Cube's RS-422 port but the 68040-based NeXT machines changed the serial port to RS-423 using a different pinout.
This 1991 Usenet article (
https://usenet.trashworldnews.com/?thread=768366) gives the pinout for an adapter cable (note that you still need a Mac-to-MIDI interface such as this one (
https://www.next.gr/circuits/apple-macintosh-midi-interface-schematic-basic-version-l28623.html)):
From the NeXT documentation (man zs):
Mini-din signals on 68030 systems
Pin Signal
1 DTR Data Terminal Ready
2 DCD Data Carrier Detect
3 TXD- Transmit Data Minus
4 GND Signal Ground
5 RXD- Receive Data Minus
6 TXD+ Transmit Data Plus
7 A: RTXC Receive Clock
B: +5v +5 volts
8 RXD+ Receive Data Plus
Mini-din signals on 68040 systems
Pin Signal
1 DTR Data Terminal Ready
2 DCD Data Carrier Detect
3 TXD Transmit Data
4 GND Signal Ground
5 RXD Receive Data
6 RTS Request To Send
7 RTXC Receive Clock
8 CTS Clear To Send
68040 side -- MIDI side
(DTR,RTS) 1,6 -- 1 (DTR)
(DCD) 2 -- 2 (DCD)
(TXD) 3 -- 3 (TXD-)
(GND,CTS) 4,8 -- 4,6,8 (GND,TXD+,RXD+)
(RXD) 5 -- 5 (RXD-)
You have midi-in and midi-out and i don't see what is the schema in twice case

IIRC, most MIDI interfaces built for 68k-based Macs should also work with black NeXT hardware – both after all support MIDI's 32500 bits per second speed on their serial ports, and have more or less compatible serial ports – such as the one attached, which includes not only schematic but also a PCB layout.
For more functionality there's this (
https://0110.be/posts/USB_MIDI_interface_for_the_NeXTCube_-_ISPW_board) which not only exposes traditional serial MIDI, but also MIDI over USB.
