I tested a 19" Dell monitor with the NeXTstation Turbo color. With ADB Soundbox, keyboard and mouse. The picture spread vertically. I also tried with non ADB keyboard, mouse and Soundbox, the picture looked ok. Now to the problem. When I reconnect the ADB Soundbox keyboard and mouse back to the NeXTstation, only the power button works, I can't write, the mouse doesn't move. Of course, I turned off the device during the changes. Help :/
When an ADB keyboard is connected, NeXT machines change their screen refresh rate from 68 to 72 Hz, which many modern LCDs cannot display correctly.
By coincidence, a few days ago I created a patched version of the Rev 3.3/v74 firmware for Turbo machines which still uses a refresh rate at 68 Hz even when an ADB keyboard is connected. See this posting (
https://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/index.php?topic=5107.msg32017#msg32017) for the details (it's only two bits).
Of course, you will need an EPROMer and a Megabit EPROM (27C001, a 27C1001 also worked for me) to burn the new firmware ROM.
As to why your ADB peripherals stopped working - good question. ADB requires a different cable to the soundbox (see topic 5.36 in the NEXTSTEP/OpenStep FAQ (
https://www.levenez.com/NeXTSTEP/faq.html) - could it be that you also have an old cable (part number 2286) which you used instead of the new ADB-capable one (part number 4536)?
If you happen to have an old 68k or PowerPC Mac, you can also attach Apple ADB peripherals to the NeXT and they should work. This might help locating the source of the problem...

I have one non ADB and one ADB cable, I know they are different, that's not the problem. The same ADB cable kbd and mouse worked just fine before-
Cuby was right, i have made a rom with her (his?) patch to return to 68hz on 19" work fine
Why only power button works ? It's depend adb protocol... it has a special pin to start and stop computer.
The new cable 4536 work on adb and non adb , not the old one only non adb.
As you have a sounbox adb you can use Next keyboard and Macintosh mice
