Thought I'd start a new thread instead of cluttering up the other one...
A lot of the 'concept car' designs look terrible IMO... like this one...

How can people like that?
or this god awful thing...
http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/26/mighty-morphin-tire-technology-on-mazda-rx-9/---
oh, what cars do you guys own/drive?
I have :
1983 Mazda RX-7 that needs a new body.... heh, dont ask ;)
1994 Chevy Astro Van - it's awesome, I bought it off my dad for 1 buck after wrecking my rx-7.. I never thought having a van would be nice.
1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500 - Bought it about 1.5 months ago. 'runs', needs work of course but over all the car is in really good shape. Be a hobby car for awhile.
1987 BMW (E30) 381i :D
That concept mustang really sucks. Lines are all wrong, and the proportions seem a bit off as well.
The new Camaro and Challenger pre-production "concepts" look much better. Much more in fitting with the american muscle car image. I wish my '05 mustang had a little lower/wider stance than it does, but a lowering spring kit should help some.
My Family cars.
My Daily Driver: 2005 Mustang GT - Blue with grey interior.
Wife's Daily Driver: Pontiac Aztec (god awful ugly, but she loves it)
Daughters "car": Power Wheels Barbie Jeep
Project Car 1: 1966 Mustang coupe (A-code 289, pony interior)
Previous cars of note:
1964 1/2 Mustang coupe (tri-power V8, 4-speed)
Great car and wicked fast when all three carbs kicked in. It was rusted really bad, and basically cracked at the doorsills and buckled the roof one day just sitting in the driveway. Sold the car to someone who wanted the drivetrain, and used the proceeds to help buy the 66. Really wish I could have kept the induction, but that is what the guy really wanted, and parents wanted the car gone from the driveway.
1989 Mustang GT (5.0L V8, 5-speed)
My daily driver until my daughter was born in 2000, then had to park it. A real bitch to get a carseat in and out of that back seat. Engine burned some oil as well, so not the best car for a baby. Held on to it for a while as project car #2, hoping to use it as the guts of a Factory5 cobra replica kit, but two project cars too much for the wife. Sold it to get money for downpayment on '05 GT.
2000 VW Passat (V6, automatic)
Fit the proper 4-door requirement of my wife after our daughter was born. Much easier to get a carseat in and out of, and a really big trunk for its size. Really wanted an Audi A4/S4, but just could not stomach the payments, so got the Passat as it is same basic chassis.
A few other beaters here and there, but nothing worth noting.
Chef
The thing about concepts is that you can't look at the whole vehicle at once.. Each element alone matters. The headlights, taillights, grille, fender arch, A, B, C pillars...
Those are the details that will carry over. Makes it a little bit easier on the stomach ;)

Driving:
1976 BMW 2002
1985 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo
1996 Isuzu Hombre (Ironically the least reliable of the bunch)
Dearly Missing:
1987 BMW 528e 5-spd
1974 Volvo 142
1973 Volvo 164
1974 VW Karmann Ghia.
And many more..
I don't mind the looks from the Italians. To me it is what it is, an Italian concept job on a Mustang, it's sweet but I like mine better. Some of you guys might remember they did that before, the year I was born, I remember seeing it in one of my Dad's car books.

I put dual flowmaster 40 American Thunders on it. Next is CAI and Tunes. Later is forced induction...lol I wish!
For those of you with BMW's, Mustang GT's and every other car that is considered better I salute you. For me it was either GT or ragtop. I like my ragtop Pony Package. :D
Here are some more shots of that concept mustang mentioned in the first post.
http://www.dieselstation.com/archive/Ford-Mustang-Giugiaro-Concept/I still do not like it as a whole, especially the back, but some of the front views are better.
Chef
bleh, much rather have an old one :) granted, the 2005-6s look WAAAY better than any of the late 80s, 90s, early 2000 'stangs. IMO :)
btw, this is a killer car ->

why can't they make cars look like that? new ones are not much more aerodynamic. and that looks better :P

Something to shake things up!
I love browsing Craigslist. So does my cousin.. He says this should be my new truck.
Currenty driving"
2001 Medcedes ML320 - the kid and computer hauler
2001 Mercedes SLK320 - my toy and commuter
Car I miss:
1983 Porsche 944
1962 FIAT 1200 Spider
1974 FIAT 124 Spider
1973 FIAT 850 Spider
1967 VW Beetle
1980 Audi 4000
1965 Chevy Nova SS 327
Motorcycles I miss:
1981 Honda CB400T Hawk - customized as cafe racer using Honda European parts
1974 Triumph Bonneville 750 - Always a fun ride and a long walk home. This was the most unreliable bike I ever owned but it was fun while it ran.
1972 Honda CL125 - my first bike
1972 Kawasaki H2 MachIV - total terror on two wheels. Only 26 miles per gallon whicj is miserable for a motorcycle. It was blindingly fast in a straight line but shit brick scarey in a corner. Handled like a pig. Back tires only lasted 3000 miles. I only kept it a year.

Obligatory: Hey, that's my truck!
Actually, I drive a 98 2-door Dodge Neon, which compares unfavorably to that truck.

Bikes I'd love to have Honda VFR750R RC30 and also the weird Honda NR750 (8 valves per cylinder oval pistons)
I'm extremely pleased with my 2002..
I would keep it (and make improvements) and swap my Benz and Pickup for one of these in a minute:

Older - 80's, and Diesel.
4-wheel drive, durability, comfort.. I would be set.
Failing that, I'd take another Jeep Comanche - but with the 4.0L Straight 6, not the pathetic GM 2.8 V6 that this one had..

Those McLarens are only, what, 250k usd? :P I do like them a lot.
as far as bikes go, i want that old suzuki (I think) Rotary powered motorcycle. it's really neat, has a tiny rotary engine. The thing sounds so weird :P

A normal McLaren F1 will cost you in the UK and Europe about a million pounds if you can get one, they made about 75 road cars I think. They made 5 GTR/LM's to celebrate winning the 95 Le Mans and an LM will cost you much much more than an F1 road car, the Sultan of Brunei is reported to have 3 of the 5 cars with one also being in the USA (something to do with BMW place Turner Motorsports) and the 5th one I have no idea, there is a 6th LM the prototype XP-LM which still belongs to McLaren Cars Ltd and is the one shown in most of the pics on the net.
Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason converted a 1996 F1 GTR racer into a road car because he was fed up waiting for a F1 road car. there are only a handful of F1's in the USA , Elon Musk has one, Jim Clark of SGI fame has one and so does Jay Leno, all these cars are Amerispec conversions. Any F1 after 1996 can't be used in the USA unless is show and display and I don't think you can do that anymore. I think there are maybe 4 legal F1's in the USA so I'd guess they'd change hands well over 3 million US each.
Think the bike you are referring to is the Suzuki GT500 RE5 from the mid 70's, in fact from about the same time period as the Kawasaki KH 500/750 blackcube mentioned. If you like rotary bikes, then check out the Norton F1 which was based on the Norton RCW 588 racer as ridden by the like of Trevor Nation and Joey Dunlop (RIP)
wow, you know a great deal about the McLarens...
It's been one of my favorite cars, But I didn't know all that. I knew they didn't make many road models...

The road cars are probably only ever going to go up in value, I've never been in a McLaren and I probably never will, but a lot of respected people have said that it's the ultimate driving machine, sure an F40 is more raw (been in one of those) and a Veryon 16.4 much faster (will be going in one some day) but the F1 is the machine for me. Ive driven a couple of XJ220's and they are mighty impressive. F1's are so rare that most of the 95 and 96 short tail GTR racers have been put on the road with the intake restrictors removed (road F1 has more power than a race spec GTR).
On the point of the Veyron, everybody who I've spoken to who has driven one says it scared the hell out of them, my new job which I started this week in Kuwait gives me technical responsibility for the Veyron. My colleauge who's a young man of about 29 years old who likes bikes and used to race carts and single seat formula Renault and thus is used to speed said it made him feel sick to the point of vomiting, he said the rate of acceleration (faster than a Formula 1 GP car) is literally shocking in that it's virtually relentless up until about 230mph when the rate slows down.
By the time the McLaren has it 100mph the Veyron is doing 200mph, something which takes the McLaren another 16 seconds to achieve. Now imagine that the F1 is quicker than an Enzo and Carerra GT and it make the Veyron even more frightening.
yes, I've read about the veyron. It's pretty sweet. It 'morphs' when it hits 137mph. the rear spoiler comes out and the front end lowers. bloody HUGE engine. I would love to drive one just once.
I really don't own a car :D
Instead I drive this little putter. It's slow (60 km/h max) but it's a gas saver and you can fit at least three bags of computer parts in compartments and between your feet.
I don't expect to be doing any street racing with a ninja any time soon.

I'm not sure I'd use the word sweet to describe the Veyron, technology wise impressive for sure, fast yes, dangerous for sure in the wrong hands, imagine a 21 year old arabian Prince driving this thing.
well, I mean't sweet as in cool technology and fast. It's as ugly as sin though. imo :)
Cool scooter, pentium. I have one sitting in my shed that needs some works. I should fix it and drive it around. It gets like 60mpg :P
The pictured scooter is also in the midst of a rebuild. Sitting unused for 20 years can really do some damage and the paint job looks terrible up close.
If I recall, this thing can go around 100 km to a tank and a tank usually costs around $4. Bad thing is that it's a 2-stroke and very picky when the carb is not tuned.
McLaren... Ferary... for russia these cars isn't actual.... here is my car:

That is a perfect G Wagen.. Just what I want!
Here is a photo of the first car I purchase new:
Last summer the timing belt broke when I accelerated from a red light. The photo shows it in a shop that was about 100 meters from where it broke down. My family and I had to wait for two days to find out it needed a new engine. Now it has a replacement engine and I just completed a 4,000 mile journey to Texas, Wisconsin and back - 7 days of driving over 14 days time. It's a 1993 and has just about 200,000 on the odometer. Before the timing belt went, all it required was routine maintenance (oil change, tires, brake pads). This car has served me well!
I still drive the same 240 sx I bought new 14 years ago. I love it 'cause the handling is so superb especially with the 4WS.
The funny part is that this car has become popular among the younger people now as a "drifting car". I actually have people occassionally come up to me and make offers on it.
I also use to go to a lot of racing events like the local indy here in Toronto (CART/ChampCar race) to the F1 race in Montreal as well as the ALMS races just out side the city but not in recent years.
Here's my baby:
It's a Ford Fiesta ST -06 and the third car I owned, second I bought new.
My next car will be either a Mazda 3 MPS, Focus ST or Mondeo ST.
I have owned:
Volvo 142 from the 70s, my first car. Handled like a pig, didn't like it.
Ford Fiesta 1.4L, bought new, liked it a lot. The only thing I could think of to improve it would be a larger engine - so I got that.
Currently driving - 1997 Alfa Romeo 146. I really *want* to like this car, but it has just enough power to make you expect that it has more :( It's pretty fuel-efficient though.
Previous cars -
2005 Opel Meriva - This thing sucks badly. There's probably something to recommend it (fuel efficiency, perhaps), but power and handling were nonexistent, it stalled pulling out of my garage (uphill), and the A/C was exceedingly twitchy. This was actually a long-term rental.
1993 Alfa Romeo 164 V6 Turbo - Liked this one. Fast and handled well, but not fast enough to make you want to try stupid stuff. Too bad they're a trick to find! Well, easy to find around, but everyone who has one wants to keep it :)
