Title: NeXT MegaPixel Color: is the case on this beyond restoration?

I've made two other posts on other aspects of my new restoration project (my first of any NeXT systems). This particular question is whether this color display is beyond reasonable restoration as it appears to be infested with what I assume is years of some sort of past mold or fungus.

I've tried wiping it with alcohol. Looks great until it dries. Tried scrubbing part of it with a toothbrush and a stronger chemical. No damage ensued, but also minimal improvement. Maybe it's closer to just feeling the naturally pebbled surface, but it's still showing the white discoloration if only to a lesser degree. MAYBE repeating that endlessly would get there... but ugh.

Anyone encountered this scenario and is there a magic bullet? Is it pretty well ruined? Would it be worth scrubbing it best I can, priming it and including it in the repaint process I plan for the Cube (see other post)? I know that's not original... but this thing is looking pretty bad.

Fortunately, I have an N4000A coming to me this weekend in fine shape - but having the color display (which does work, it seems) would be nice as well.

Thoughts?
