Title: OpenStep/NextStep Networking Time Server Configuration
Post by: jeffberg on December 24, 2024, 12:08:10 AM
I know that Andreas has already gotten network time working with OpenStep/NextStep when it runs on Previous, but for folks running Intel versions, has anyone figured out how to configure the network time server? In HostManager I have the checkbox checked that says Use Network Time but I can't figure out where I set the server anywhere. I was kind of hoping I could just set it to time.apple.com but not sure if that will work.

Any advice?

I think it should be possible to specify a time server in /etc/hostconfig:

TIME=X.X.X.X
You will have to look up an IP address of some time server.

Andreas, thanks so much as always! I found a setting in VirtualBox to enable a Hardware Clock in UTC and that seems to set the time automatically. But if it goes wonky again, I will try your suggestion.
