Amigas didn't ship with a DSP but Amiga engineer Dave Haynie developed a successor to the A3000 (and precursor to the AGA A4000) which did include the AT&T DSP3210 chip called the AA3000. This machine was never released sadly but a handful of working motherboards did eventually find their way into users hands. A replica board called the AA3000+ has been available for about 5 years and dozens of them are out there now. Finally the DSP has been put to good use by the release of an mpeg 2 and 3 decoder which can be used to play MP3s!

It would be amazing if a similar dsp plugin could be developed to let next machines exploit their DSP for mp3 playback too!
