Hi all,

Does anyone know if there's a Barrier or Synergy client for NeXTSTEP? It'd be handy to be able to use a modern machine's keyboard / mouse with the cube once the machine has booted (I appreciate that a physical keyboard would still have to be connected to the cube).

There's no solution that quite fits this bill yet. The closest things available are the QuokkaNeXT USB adapter (for using modern peripherals with a cube or slab)—check Rob's listing here (https://www.ebay.com/itm/286367839932)—or using NXHost to display the NeXT machine's windows on another computer, which I explained a little bit of here (https://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/index.php?topic=5996). There is a VNC viewer for NEXTSTEP but no server. Still hoping we can tempt @jeffberg into writing a VNC server, although certainly a Barrier/Synergy client would require less of the API...

Yeah I've got a quokka on order from Alex which should be ideal.

I was just wondering about Barrier as I use that successfully to control my Octane from my PC, and it's a really good light-weight solution which saves having to break out the keyboard and mouse everytime I power on the SGI. I thought it might operate similarly well for the Next, but quokka will work ideally too assuming it functions with my Logitech usb keyboard / trackpad.
