I've received complaints related to the overuse of the mention feature. Please reserve @ mentions for urgent messages or cases where someone hasn't visited the forums for a long time.

I love getting mentions. I find it very useful in drawing my attention.

I find it weird that a few would complain and it would be a broad brush application to all use by everyone? Doesn't it make sense for those users to simply ask not to get mentioned? Seems a little lowest common denominator IMO.

Of course I will follow that rule if that is the rule, but just noting, I disagree.

IMO you can never have enough mentions or cowbell.

I have no problem with being mentioned either. But for those being disturbed by the notifications it would be good if there was an option to disable the notifications per user. I don't know if that option can be added easily though.

Let's avoid that function until there is a solution.
