Title: Downtime
Post by: Nitro on August 26, 2025, 04:23:45 PM
I really appreciate the forum members that we have here. It's been a pleasure running the forums for almost 20 years now, and all of you have made that task much easier because I rarely have to intervene. Everyone just knows how to conduct themselves. Unfortunately, for the first time I'm closing the accounts of two forum members. I wish them the best. Please be understanding of the rules and help us out. If someone continues to break the rules then they should expect to have their account closed.

Please do not spam links in the forums to your web site for personal gain. That forum rule is the only thing keeping spammers from overrunning the discussions. Forum members have done a great job with this and I appreciate it.

We'll never have commercial software in the archives here. That's a choice not a crime. Other people can make their own decisions. I respect that other's view on commercial software and archiving are different than ours, but we're not here for that as the rules state. Discussions on commercial software are great, but leave the archiving discussions out of it please.

I removed hundreds of personal links and externally linked images from the forums. I appreciate your patience while everything is cleaned up. Thanks.

Having hundreds of links back to a server with commercial software puts me at financial risk of being sued. I'm not comfortable taking that risk, regardless of anyone's opinion that it's not a risk. There are also rules here against self-promotion. I asked the user not to do that. They continued. The legal risks from those types of discussions and links are not worth running a free hobby website. If someone else wants to take that risk then that's up to them.

As I have already mentioned many times to andreas_g, the banned users are not coming back. He can't accept that. Please don't disrupt the forums with further discussions about this. We had many server errors this morning due to this user. Very disheartening.

We have global moderation turned on now, so posts will need to be approved. Thanks for your understanding.
