Okay, so I am starting to face the fact that it is going to take more than a mere $200 to even get a cube that looks like it fell off the freemont loading bay and was not found for a month.
Going on how rare they have become, What do you put the price on a 030 cube with no ram, no hard drive, a keyboard, grayscale monitor, mouse and sound box?
This also means no media, documents or promise that it lives.
I can get one...eventually but I need to put cash aside and still maintain a healthy high shcool budget.

I have been asking the same question, and so far have not been able to find one, even just an empty case, for the right amount.  Rob over at blackhole responded that he might have an empty 030 case missing the drive bay panel, but it was going to be more than $100usd for it with shipping.  This was just for the case, for around $200 he would include a motherboard, memory, harness and power supply as well.  Hopefully one will pop up eventually in the $50-$75 range (including shipping), so I can at least have an empty case to stare at ;)

  Just for a case?

I think I better start sucking up to whoever has one.
Eventually everyone makes a foolish upgrade.

Ebay auction just showed up for two empty next cube cases ...   :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

I am going to bid on them, but I do not need both so may have one to sell.

So who read this thread, and decided to put a few cases up for sale so myself and pentium could get one

Now all I need to do is actually win the auction, assuming it does not go into the "stupid" price range.

Why an empty cube?
That's like getting a car with no engine and electrical system.

think of it as just a start. Like finding a 1966 Shelby GT350, missing most of its main components but still a solid foundation to build on. I do not have the funds for a working system, so I start with what I can afford.

Ah.
So I get the shell and from there I find the motherboard, the keyboard, mouse etc.

A tad on the expensive side but it sounds like a good idea.

we will see how high that one gets by the closing.  If history holds, It will not stay below $100 as the end gets near.

I say it will end over $150

$75 to $200 is my sweet spot when it comes to buying older systems...when shipping is included in total that is.

Well it seems to already be over $110, so I'd agree there's a very good chance it'll end over $150.  I had considered bidding on it just to get the lower-serial number one, but I don't think it is going to stay in the price range where I'll be doing that.

Unfortunately it is more than I can spend right now, unless someone is really serious about buying one off of me, then I might give it a go.  How about a 50/50 split of whatever the closing price of the auction ends at.  PM me if interested, and how much you are willing to pay, so I know how high to go with the bidding.
