Ok, it's time to finally clear out some of my gear. I've considered putting it up on eBay but thought I would check the NeXT forums first.
I'd much prefer to sell it all to one person but might be willing to part it out depending on interest.
I'd fired up the Cubes several years ago and remember having them working. Somewhere along the line I misplaced a monitor cable or two. I certainly no longer have password to log in regardless. Currently I do not have NeXTStep CDs nor the time to attempt a reinstall.
Also I would *much* prefer local pickup in Northern California if possible. The Cubes and the monitors are certainly not light by any stretch of the imagination. I might be willing to ship but it won't be inexpensive to do so and I would need to find a good way to package the components.
This weekend I took a look around and here's the list I came up with. I've also a bunch of photos of the individual gear. I've also taken photos of the motherboards and NeXTDimension board for anyone interested.
- 2 NeXT Cubes (68040), one of the Cubes has a NeXTDimension board
- RAM looks fully populated on both motherboards and the NeXTDimension board
- 1 NeXT Color slab/pizza box (68040, floppy, no HD or RAM)
- 1 NeXT TurboColor slabs (68040, no HD or RAM)
- 1 NeXT 68030 motherboard with a few sticks (4?) of RAM
- 1 monitor cable
- 1 NeXT cd-rom drive + cable
- 2 NeXT keyboards
- 2 NeXT mice
- 1 NeXT sound box
Drop me a line if this sounds like gear someone is interested in.
Please let me know what you would offer for the lot or parted out bits.
I sent you a PM..
I am definitely interested in the Color Station!!
Shipping to Texas wouldn't be that bad..
sent you a PMSG as well... :)
pm sent, do u still have any of the cubes left for sale?
PM sent.
Come on, I need something to start with. :)

i guess he doesnt want to sell them too bad
Ok, any chance there's a local person interested in these?
I disappeared for the forums for a bit since life got a bit busy and haven't managed to get back on them.

I had received a couple msg but I'd really prefer not to ship if I don't have to.

- RAM looks fully populated on the motherboard with the NeXTDimension and the NeXTDimension board, the RAM on the 2nd cube appears to have only 4 sticks. Should be easy to come by.
- 1 NeXT 68030 motherboard with a few sticks (4?) of RAM
(monitors have been recycled)
- 2 Turbo Color slabs, no RAM or HD
- 1 Color slab, no RAM or HD

*bump*
I haven't checked the forums in a bit but my NeXT systems are still available. The only thing I've managed to do with them is move them from one room to another, plus I unearthed 2 additional slabs from a closet.
I had received a couple msg but I'd really prefer not to ship if I don't have to and have reasonable offers.
Any chance the community can suggest fair asking prices for these?
I'd *much* rather sell these locally than attempt to pack up and ship them. It's mostly a time issue.
Shipping on the Cubes is likely rather ridiculous and I haven't got any of the original packing material or foam, etc. The slabs are heavy enough, I'm not sure they're worth shipping unless somewhere is really keen on them. I'm not sure how much shipping would cost but I could probably estimate the weight (30+ lb ? plus packaging) and size of box from the specs and get a quote from UPS for various area codes. A few numbers I've typed in are in the hundreds of dollars for 35 lb and a 2'x2'x2' (the actual box would prob. be larger but the shipping weight on that UPS indicated 70+ lb).
Tomorrow morning I think I might bring my 3 slabs (two I think are Color slabs, one is a Turbo, can't recall if Color or Mono off top of my head) to a computer recycling center to clear up some space at least unless I hear someone would *definitely* be interested. The slabs probably have some 30-pin SIMMs in them but no drives.
Also going to sell off my Bebox (dual PPC603) motherboard + case (*without* Blinkenlights top of case!).
Also going to sell my Tadpole Sparc-based laptop (not the newer Ultrasparc model but the older 50mhz Microsparc I believe.)

I'm also considering selling the BeBox innards I have. It's a dual PPC 603 motherboard in the case but missing the case cover (*no* Blinkenlights). No hard drive. I think no power supply.

Also selling my Tadpole (think it's the 3GX) Sparc-based laptop (50mhz Microsparc seems to ring a bell).
I assume only the Cubes have drives in them. I can double check this weekend. I don't have passwords for them anywhere. I think I actually have a set of NeXTStep software but I really don't plan on trying to re-install anytime in the near future.

RAM looks fully populated on the Cube motherboard with the NeXTDimension board (also fully populated), HD, optical drive. No CD.

Dammit, I could drive up to LA for these, but the wife is already questioning my sanity so SF is out of the picture :(
There must be someone here in NorCal?

I'm super interested...but I live up in Canada. :(

Are you trying to hurt someone with sentences like this?

I am definitly interested! And it´s not that difficult to pack everithing together into a box and send it with TNT or DHL or whatever!
Please don´t destroy them or at least make some mony by selling them through eBay.
