Title: Running NEXTSTEP/OPENSTEP via Boot Camp?

So anyone tried it? I looked into this (http://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=188&highlight=boot+camp) topic and the one of the problems was a floppy drive. NEXTSTEP/OPENSTEP for Intel needs to be booted from a floppy drive but all Mac models don't have it (and a USB floppy drive didn't work) . But our forum member itomato  successfully made CD image of the boot floppy disk for a while ago.

Does anyone try to boot from that CD image on Intel-based Mac? Unfortunately I don't have any Intel-based Mac so I cannot test it.

Thanks.

I have never used boot camp, but I imagine there must be some options for memory handling, hardware, etc.

If there are none on the surface, I'd take a look behind the scenes and do some dwrites on some applicable parameters.

I'm not familiar enough with the OPENSTEP boot loader to know exactly what's happening with each dot.

At seven dots, the system is ready to size the physical memory.  It's hanging while it's trying to size the ram or attempting to access the memory controller to have a look-see.

If you can, try taking the amount of memory for the Boot Camp system down to around 64MB.  This will be plenty to get OPENSTEP installed.

There are various reports running non-Windows systems with Boot Camp. Here's some of them. Might be helpful.

Solaris
This guy used an external USB HDD.

Linux
The "Backgroud" section of this page seems to be useful.

And I also heard that we cannot eject a CD-ROM while installing with Boot Camp so it might cause the problem, too.

I'm sorry for asking too much but what will happen if you boot from the NEXTSTEP boot CD-ROM? The procedure of making CD-ROM is here (http://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=520).
