If I wasn't saving for an apple network server this auction would be mine.

God, that case is trashed.

It does seem to happen to Cubes quite often for some reason.  Maybe this one came out of a dumpster.

Years ago, at work (school) we had so many NeXTs that some cubes got emptied out and used for bookshelves and trash cans.  Horrible from perspective now, but at the time it seemed like a reasonable use for some of the (IIRC) hundreds of them we had.  I remember them literally stacked floor to ceiling along one wall of the computing center, and that was just what hadn't been taken to storage.  Boy I wish I had half of those now...

I've had a couple machines that were kept in various laboratories with some serious corrosion, enough that they didn't work anymore and I didn't really want to touch them.  Those were about the only NeXTs I've owned that I've ever just thrown away.

It looks like there is a dust cover in the MO slot.
Gee, that trashed case eerily reminds me of something I said in a previous thread:

Oh hell, if the price stays where it is, I might put the server on hold and give bidding a try.

FYI, I'm stuck with the ebay name "collectingdigimonrocks".

heh, I'm stuck using my grandmothers ID... "katiejunesattic" :P

If I hadn't just bought a cube, I'd probably go for that one as well.

It looks like someone beat that cube with a chain. Even the BNC connector is flattened. It reminds me of a Cube that I saw on Flickr recently that was being used as a lawn ornament.

It's sad to see Cubes in that kind of condition.

One persons pride and joy is another persons trash.  Good for us in the long run, as I have gotten some pretty great stuff "for free" because the previous owner just wanted it gone.

Wonder if it is still in the backyard, and if they would even notice if someone went over and "rescued" it. (not that I am condoning any kind of theft here) ;)

It appears to be common that sellers can't figure out how to get the NeXT computer to turn on.

QuoteWe tested this item as follows: ITEM DID NOT POWER UP WHEN WE PLUGGED IN A POWER CORD. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS IS FOR PARTS AND REPAIR.

I've bought two 'broken' NeXT's (one from e-bay and one from the Sun rescue list) because the owner didn't have a keyboard to power it on. Both worked fine.

In my opinion, the plastic 'NeXT' logo looks pretty good for all of the other damage to the case. At least it has that going for it.

Look at the other stuff he has up for grabs.
My guess it's from a lab or some place that handles chemicals.

Good eye.
My guess is it fell off a table. Even if it is a cube there looks like there is a chance it's in bad shape.

Than again, what was it I said about a cube falling off the fremont loading bay?
