Does anyone know of a source for the rubber take-up wheel (or just the rubber sleeve for the wheel) for the printer?

I've got two printers that work fine except for the paper feed.

I've still got one NIB factory sealed, but I'd hate to open the last one.

I'm a newbie here, but I still use a cube as my main "work" computer every day.  Having to futz around with the paper feed has become a perpetual PITA with these things.

First off your my hero  :D ... Now you should read this page

No idea if they still have stock but it looks like it is 8 bucks for the rollers. [Or figure out how ot resurface the roller.]

Good Luck!

Thanks Mike

I'd tried sending a request through that link about a week ago - no response, so I assume it's dead.

I recall that "The Printer Works" over in the east bay (Freemont or Hayward) used to sell refurbished or NOS NeXT printers.  I've got an email in to them.  I'll post if I have any success.

You can dig deeper into parts sources..

That's a Canon engine you've got there, and so there are many other sources of parts beyond the NeXT printer.  HP LaserJet and Apple  LaserWriter printers of the same vintage circa 1992 use many of the same parts (such as paper trays).

I don't know of any old laser printer parts cross-reference guides, but this may be the seed of one..

Here's a link to a LaserJet II/III roller that might work.  They may be able to cross reference the part for you.

So which model of HP/Canon has a compatible printer paper tray for the next laser printer?  I currently have more printers than paper trays, so am in need of a few.

The Apple LaserWriter II series use the same paper tray except for the color. I used my NeXT and II trays interchangeably between my IINTX and NeXT printers until the IINTX fried it's power board.

According to the NeXT FAQ, any II or III HP tray will work but not trays for the IIIsi/4si line.

Precision Rollers part number  Z2540 seems to be the proper feed roller rpelacement.

Feedroller.com seems to have a replacement expeller gear:

I plan to order a couple of sets and see if this is indeed the right part.

If the feed roller for the HP LaserJet II/IID III/IIID (Canon SX engine) is the right part, they are also available from the Printer Works:

http://www2.printerworks.com/cgi-win/tpwall.exe/find?RA1-3851-CLN

$5.65 ea, but temporarily out of stock.  :(
