I realize this is a NeXT/OpenStep oriented forum, but having successfully gotten OpenStep working quite nicely under VMWare Fusion thanks to the tutorials here, I was hoping to experiment with a newer system as well.

Thusfar, I've installed Rhapsody DR2 in VMWare without incident. However, because of lack of drivers, I have no network support or graphics beyond basic VGA. Worse, the PS/2 mouse bug makes the whole thing unusable.

Given that there are good OpenStep drivers for all the VMWare devices, is it possible to use or recompile them and them for Rhapsody?

Many thanks.

P.S. If Parallels or Virtual PC work for this, I'd be willing to try them too. Even though I've heard reports of success with Bochs, the extremely poor performance of it is a big turnoff.

Yes, this will work.

I have a complete walkthrough of installing DR2 in VMware Fusion including getting video, network, sound and a stable mouse pointer working.

Thanks for the guide mrichmon, especially the tips about how to get the drivers loaded manually during install.  Just may have to dig out the DR2 disk I got off of ebay and give it a try.  A DR2 "install" would go nicely with the NS and OS I have in VMware currently.

Make sure that you have set your VMware memory size to less than 192MB.

Still trying to find my DR2 disk, as it is packed away somewhere that seems to escape me at the moment.  :?
