Hello
I've successfully install OpenStep 4.2 on intel hardware. I was trying to update it to patch 4, but the installation compained that it did not have permission to update files. When I boot into OpenStep there was no login screen, it put me in "me" account. How can I login as root. or set root password.

Use OpenSesame to open up the installer as root and/or set up a passwd for the 'me' account. Go to preferences(the dock icon that has the time..double click it) and click the lock and set a passwd for the me account.

Actually, once you password-protect the "me" account and logout, you're sent to the login screen (the root account has no password by default; while you can password it, if this is a personal or virtual NS/OS box, it may be largely unnecessary), and then can apply patches, etc.
