I just tested the recently released beta version of VirtualBox for OS X (

Same thing in VB for Windows.
VESA gives me 1024x768 @ 24-bit color (VESA mode 292) in OS 4.2 (after applying the Y2K patch (UserPatch 3)).
While OmniWeb 3.0 (the last full version) is horribly slow compared to modern browsers, it does work for basic surfing.
And when I said *horribly slow*, I meant it; even 256 MB of VM system RAM (and 64 MB of graphics RAM) can't really get OW 3 to pick up the pace any. (NT 4.01 WS with SP 6A and IE 5.5 smokes it by comparison in a VM configured the same way.)
