Hello all
I was wondering, if anyone wants to let mw know, how to make the netwoking running ok in a Nextstep 3.3
I can ping form my XP to my Cube, and even telnet it, but if i want to ping my XP from my cube, nothing, what I doing wrong?, also if I want to NFS both boxes, no one seem to work.
thanks, any help will be wellcome
I've been reading the "Network and System Administration" manual because I'm working on a similar project. This weekend is my NeXTravaganza where I'll get to try out all my new tricks!!!!
Um..basically just me nerding out with my NeXT computers.
I'll keep you posted as to results.

This sounds like your XP box is running a firewall that is blocking inbound ICMP echo traffic. Disable your firewall, try again, if it works enable add a rule that allows all ip traffic from the NeXT's IP address.
XP Supports NFS? I wonder if MS managed to make NFS even less secure. :)

Hehe, good one! No wonder nobody uses NFS with 2k/XP/2003 servers :D
download SFU (Services for Unix) 3.5 for XP.. It's free, and supports NFS server & client. Although I did setup the NIS bridge for a domain, the NeXT saw it (this would allow you to have your domain users log onto the next!) but sadly it crashed nextstep.... :|
