Option 2: ...a NeXTcube Turbo

Assuming money is not an issue and you could only choose *one* of the following production (not prototype) models, with no exceptions/loopholes, would you rather own:
- An original 68030-based NeXT Computer, representing the innovative first offering of the NeXT hardware platform;
- A final-revision 68040-based NeXTcube Turbo, representing the most ultimate evolution of the NeXT hardware platform

The 040/33 Cube. Pretty straightforward, IMHO. Both capture the spirit of the NeXT, to me, and the 040/33 is the more capable of the two.
This is a good part of the reason why, although I acquired a mostly-original (if jimmysquidded) 030 NeXT Computer, I upgraded it to an 040/25 ND. (Why not an 040/33? Mainly too hard to get!)
What kronoman said. :)
I would go original assuming that it's a cube with MO.
The MO drive was one of the many features that made the cube unique and shows the steps NeXT took to build a computer far different from any other system in existance.
I suppose I should answer my own question, shouldn't I?
I honestly think I would get the original too, NS0.8, MO drives, etc--guess I'm just a purist like that. Neither system, capable as they still may be, is breaking any speed records at this point, so performance doesn't matter as much to me.
68040/33. Mainly 'cause that's what I've got. :wink:

I would want to actually use it so I would probably get the faster one. Also i'm biased 'cause my NeXT is a TurboColor slab.
The original one would be of a museum peice and I would be reluctant to use it (assuming I had no other NeXT). Also if the cube has ADB like my slab I can off load the wear and tear using my mac equipment. This is something I eventually plan to do although using a black keyboard with green highlights is pretty cool for now.
Original, no doubt.
I would love an original Cube running the first release of NS released to the public. wlel, close ot the first. like 0.8 or something on a 25mhz cube iwth 4-8mb of ram... like the colleges were able to get :P just to see how it ran.. :)
A NEXTCube Turbo, the most powerfull NEXT.
They are also better suited to work with Dimension board. And I love colors.
