Here are a couple of pics, now that I have had a chance to get it all unloaded and sorted into general categories.  More to follow after I do a proper inventory of all the software & manuals, and then start testing the systems.

And now that I have 4 mono monitors, that quad motherboard cube system might actually be a possibility.  Assuming I had 3 more cube boards, a modified backplane, and some of those external monitor power boxes.

Or you can buy the cube from the person I sold it to... assuming they would be willing to sell it :P

That would b ereally cool if you could get that working though.

Chef:

Just out of curiosity, how did you happen to come across all these goodies (assuming you don't mind revealing your M.O.)?

The original owner tried to sell a few on ebay, but did not word his auction very well so he did not get any bids.  He was selling 10 of them, and I offered to take them all for one price.  In further conversation it came to light that they had 30 or so complete systems, a few printers, and tons of manuals and software cluttering up their main conference room.  They were a NeXT based business and had upgraded to mac hardware, so this was all just taking up space.  I offered to buy everything they had NeXT related, which made them very happy to get some money for this as opposed to having to pay someone to haul it away as surplus.  Unfortunately they are located in the pacific northwest in the middle of a forest, so shipping was a challenge.  It was far enough off the beaten path that I had a hard time finding a freight company that had a regular route even close, so as not to have to pay extra for a special single trip.  As it was, the freight cost was going to be so high that I decided not to take the NeXT color monitors, just everything else.  Kinda sad, but shipping 30 or so 17in CRT monitors would have tripled my freight cost,  and the demand did not seem to be high enough to warrant that.  The fact that the turbos can use LCD monitors made the CRT's not a necessity anyhow.  The monitors might be still available, if anyone wants to deal with the shipping charge for them.  If anyone is interested, post and I will see if they are still available and if he is agreeable to selling them.

So far it appears that they have a configuration consisting of a 540Mb HD, and 32mb ram.  One so far had a 1.2G drive, but it appears dead and will not spin up.  I was installing NS on it and it started the "click, click, click" dance of death as the head proceeded to crash.  Currently my schedule is not giving me much time to work on these, but I am trying to check out a few each day.  Hopefully I can spend some time on the weekend and try to get through them all in order to note the specs.

More details to follow, and keep the offers coming :)

And one beefy power supply!!!  ;)

Nice loot Chef! Glad to see your negotiations with those guys come to fruition and some more NeXT boxes have escaped the recyclers! You're our NeXT savior! :D
